Aalborg

Travel Guide & Travel Information
The city on the Limfjord should be known to most by the eponymous "Aquavit". But Aalborg has much more to offer.

For example, there are the bridges over the Limfjord, which can be folded up, or the "St. Budolfi Cathedral" from the 15th century, which is located in the city center and can be seen from far away. Of course, Aalborg also has its own castle. The half-timbered castle was built in 1539 by King Christian III. With the "Holy Spirit Monastery" built in 1437, the city has one of the oldest social institutions in Denmark.

Besides several museums, among others the "Museum of Modern Art", the "Jomfru Ane Gade" attracts with its many trendy pubs. In the historical museum there is a collection of about 100,000 exhibits covering the period from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. The adventure center "Springeren" is also worth a visit. Here you can take a look at the maritime history of Denmark. The Aalborgtårnet was built in 1933 and with its 55 meters can be seen from far away. It is considered one of the city's landmarks and the tower restaurant has a legendary reputation. A walk along the harbor promenade should also be on the program. The fountain in front of the Royal Customs Chamber bubbles to the sounds of Handel's Water Music and, like the other sights, can be explored on foot.
