A city trip includes a visit to the magnificent Berlin Cathedral. The church building dates from the end of the 19th century and is located on Museum Island. The cathedral is the largest Protestant church in Germany in terms of area. A 98 meter high huge turquoise dome crowns the cathedral. Four ornate towers with likewise turquoise small domes surround it. In the basement is the mausoleum of the noble Hohenzollern family. The restoration of the building, which was badly damaged in the Second World War, was started by the GDR regime in 1975. Today the cathedral is one of the most popular sights with sermons, state acts and concerts.
