Those who have enjoyed the beaches of Anguilla rave for a lifetime about the snow-white sand that feels like powdered sugar there. This is one of the islands "above the wind" of the Lesser Antilles. None other than Christopher Columbus gave the group its name, as "Anguilla" stands for "eel." Anguilla rises from the turquoise sea to a length of 25 kilometers, but measures only five kilometers at its widest point.
