Cameroon is a country in West and Central Africa bordered by Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of Congo. Cameroon's history includes pre-colonial times, colonization by the Germans, division into French and British mandated territories after World War I, the declaration of independence and political struggles in the 1950s and 1960s, and various political developments up to the present. Cameroon is known for its geological, linguistic and cultural diversity and is often referred to as "Africa in miniature." Sights include the Mandara Mountains, Waza National Park, the beaches of Kribi, and the capital city of Yaoundé.
