The small island nation of Dominica in the eastern Caribbean should not be confused with the Dominican Republic. After all, there are about a thousand kilometers between them, and tourism has a completely different character on these islands. While the Dominican Republic enjoys a firm place in international tourism, Dominica is more romantic and quiet. The capital, Roseau, is located on the southwest coast, and it was here that the settlement of this green island began in 1750. Dominica also stands out from its neighbors because it rains more often here and is thus able to supply some neighboring islands with water.
