Jersey is an autonomous island in the English Channel. It is British crown property, but is not part of the United Kingdom. Jersey has long beaches and is known for its sunny climate. The capital is St. Helier. The history of Jersey dates back to the 11th century, when the Normans conquered the island. Today Jersey is an important financial center and a popular tourist destination. Attractions include the Jersey War Tunnels Museum, Elizabeth Castle and the Jersey Museum and Art Gallery.
