Malaysia is a state in Southeast Asia consisting of 13 states on the Malay Peninsula and part of the island of Borneo. The country was formed in 1963 from four former parts of the British Empire. Malaysia is an elective constitutional monarchy under the Westminster system and a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and ASEAN. Major attractions include the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Cave Temple, and the beaches of Langkawi.
