Panama is a country in Central America, located between Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the east. The history of the country is closely linked to the construction of the Panama Canal, which connected the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean and made Panama an important trade center. Typical of the country are its diverse wildlife, rich culture and mix of traditional indigenous and Spanish cultures. Sights include the Panama Canal, Old Panama City, the Bocas del Toro Islands and Coiba National Park.
