The Pitcairn Islands are an isolated archipelago in the southeastern Pacific Ocean and are part of the British Overseas Territories. The archipelago consists of four atolls stretching east-west for more than 600 kilometers, with Pitcairn Island being the only populated island in the archipelago. Settlement of the islands by Europeans began in the late 18th century when mutineers from the Bounty settled on Pitcairn. The islands are known for their beautiful coral reefs and unique flora and fauna.
