The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is located in Western Asia at the eastern end of the Arabian Peninsula. The country consists of seven emirates, each of which is ruled by an emir and together form the Federal Council. The Emirates are known for their modern cities and tourist attractions such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and the beaches of Ras al-Khaimah. The UAE is a member of the United Nations, the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
