The American Virgin Islands are a Caribbean enclave of the United States. And this already for more than a hundred years. In addition to the three main islands of St. John, St. Croix and St. Thomas, the archipelago includes another fifty mini-islands. The gorgeous white beaches are among the best in the world, and the average temperature is around 28 degrees, even in the Caribbean winter. The areas in front of the beaches are appreciated by divers because of their steep reefs. Trails crisscross the rainforests in the Virgin Islands National Park. The islands are home to an astonishing number of well-preserved relics from a storied past.
