Travel Guide & Travel Information
Feldkirch is located in the very west of Austria and is the second largest city in the state of Vorarlberg. With around 35,000 inhabitants, Feldkirch ranks 13th among the largest cities in the Alpine Republic in terms of population. Since numerous important institutions such as the regional court or the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce have their headquarters in the city, Feldkirch is also considered by many Vorarlbergers to be the secret capital of the province.

Where to go first in Feldkirch?

For many people in Feldkirch, the Schattenburg is the town's landmark. The castle is run as a museum and is currently open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the afternoon. Admission costs 8 euros for adults, and children up to the age of five are admitted free of charge.

Outside the regular opening hours, the museum invites visitors to take part in various guided tours. Among other things, there are also evening tours on the theme of "Mysterious Shadow Castle".

Alternatively, a walk through the old town, which is well worth seeing, is also recommended. The medieval town leads partly through winding alleys and offers its visitors not only historical buildings, but above all excellent shopping opportunities and numerous restaurants.

Which museums are recommended?

Friends of old motorcycles should pay a visit to the Motorcycle Museum Feldkirch in Gisingen. Meanwhile, the collection includes 35 ready-to-ride vintage motorcycles. Most of them are motorcycles of the brands Puch and Delta Gnom.

The history of old radio equipment is highlighted in the Goaszipfl Radio Museum. There you can see over 120 radio receivers from the early days of radio. The museum is located directly below the Schattenburg. It is open every first Thursday of the month from 11 am to 4 pm.
