About half of the population of Rhodes lives in the capital of the same name, which is located on the northeastern tip of the island and with its approximately 60,000 inhabitants forms the tourist center. Right at the entrance to the port, you will be greeted by the statues of Elafos and Elafina, perched on pillars. The jumping deer Elafos is the heraldic animal of the island. Rhodes is also known for its interesting archaeological sites.
