From Germany to Norway

Probably the most pleasant journey to Norway is the direct route with Color Line from Kiel. Departure is always at 2 p.m., with arrival in Oslo at 10 a.m. the next morning. The cruise ambience of the ships is particularly impressive: in addition to high-quality restaurants and hotel-quality cabins, there is also a pool on board.

Via Denmark to Norway

Most ferry routes to Norway are from Denmark. The most important ferry port is Hirtshals in the very north of the Jutland peninsula. From here, Color Line and Fjord Line sail to Kristiansand several times a day. This is also the fastest connection to Norway: the catamaran of Fjord Line takes only 2 hours and 15 minutes. From Hirtshals there are also daily departures to Larvik (3:45 h), to Langesund (4:30 h), to Stavanger (10:15 h) and to Bergen (16:30 h).

There are also two direct daily connections from Denmark to Oslo: one from Copenhagen (17:15 h), the other from Frederikshavn. Both routes are offered by the shipping company DFDS.

From Holland to Norway

Since April 2022 there is also a direct connection from Eemshaven to Kristiansand. Eemshaven is located directly on the border with Germany, and ships to Borkum also depart from here. The crossing takes 18 hours and is offered three times a week by the shipping company Holland Norway Lines.

Other routes

There is another route to Norway from Sweden. The route from Strömstad to Sandefjord takes only 2.5 hours and can be easily combined with a detour to Sweden and the ferry to Gothenburg. There are also numerous ferry routes within Norway.
