Jersey is one of the Channel Islands in the English Channel between England and France. As a British crown estate, it has its own government and enjoys extensive autonomy. The capital of Jersey is Saint Helier, where the island's main ferry port is also located. Ferry connections exist mainly to the neighboring Channel Islands such as Guernsey and Alderney, as well as to Great Britain and France. The most important routes lead from Saint Helier to Saint-Malo (France), Portsmouth and Poole (both England) as well as St. Peter Port (Guernsey).
