Vulcano
Vulcano, the southernmost island of the Lipari archipelago, is considered the ancestral mother of all volcanoes. According to ancient legend, the god Vulcanus operated his forge here. When you see the steam of the fumaroles and breathe in the sulfur vapors, you can imagine how the ancient Greeks came up with this idea. The natural fango springs were already used by the Romans for spa purposes. The uphill hike to the crater is easy and quick. At the port you will find restaurants. The black lava beaches are a much loved attraction. You will never forget the sight of the Dead Field with the offshore fumarole zone. Bathing in the naturally heated sea will be a unique experience.

Lipari
Lipari, namesake and largest of the Lipari Islands, impresses with its picturesque harbor town. The ruins date back to the Bronze Age and tell of the long, eventful history. In addition to buildings from ancient times, you will find a citadel on the island that dates back to Charles V, and several imposing churches such as the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo with its impressive Baroque altar. From the Belvedere Quattrocchi you have the most beautiful view of the sea and the neighboring island of Vulcano across the Valle Muria.
