Milos
A stay in Milos means pure romance - starting from dreamlike beaches to rustic villages and numerous sights. The landscape outside the cities is rather rugged, as it was shaped by volcanoes. Especially couples and small families like to come to Milos because of the relaxed atmosphere. This is also reflected in the possible activities, which mainly revolve around visiting the beach and hiking. Diving and snorkeling are absolutely part of the must-do program on Milos. However, there are also interesting places to discover, such as sea caves or museums.
The ferry port on the island of Milos offers connections to the other Greek islands of Andros, Chalki, Tinos, Folegandros, Amorgos, Mykonos, Kimolos, Karpathos, Thira, Paros, Ios, Serifos, Kythnos, Rhodes, Crete, Syros, Naxos, Sikinos, Koufonissi, Kasos, Sifnos and Anafi, as well as to the ferry port of Piraeus on the Greek mainland. A total of 25 routes are offered here several times a day by the shipping companies Aegean Sea Lines, SeaJets, Anek Lines, Zante Ferries, Minoan Lines and Hellenic Seaways.
Naxos
The largest island in the Cyclades, Naxos, is located a good 30 kilometers south of Mykonos in the Aegean Sea. It is separated from its western neighbor island Paros only by a strait about six kilometers wide. In the east, the shores are very steep, while towards the west the land turns into a large plain. From north-northeast to south-southwest runs a mountain ridge with Mount Zas (also Zeus or Oxia) roughly in the center. These are imposingly steep granite cliffs. The gorges are mostly strikingly green and the villages shine in bright white in the sunlight. You should also look for the ancient ruins on this island.
Naxos is inhabited by about 18,000 people. Many of them live in the port town of Naxos in the flat west of the island. Here the ferries arrive or depart and you can see the bustle of the fishing boats, but also the pleasure craft. Naxos is the seat or rather the diocese of the Greek Orthodox bishop of Naxos-Paros.
