Patmos
Patmos - the Jerusalem of the Aegean, the place where John wrote down the Revelation, shines with mythological and Christian magic. Originally, Zeus is said to have given the island to his daughter Artemis. Beautiful beaches next to picturesque cliffs await you, green hills with olive trees, ancient sites and monuments. A visit to the monastery of St. John is a must, here you can also visit the cave where John had his visions. Besides this monastery, the island has many other sites of religious life. Often, the ancient and the Christian are right next to each other, like the ruins of the temple of Apollo next to the church of St. Constantine in Chora.
The ferry port on the island of Patmos offers connections to the other Greek islands of Agathonisi, Lesbos, Samos, Karpathos, Nisyros, Kalymnos, Kos, Ikaria, Lipsi, Chios, Rhodes, Fournoi, Syros, Astypalea, Tilos, Symi, Arki, Kasos, Leros, Kastelorizo and Limnos, as well as to the ports of Piraeus and Kavala on the Greek mainland.
