Although Switzerland is landlocked and has no direct access to the sea, there are numerous lakes with ferry connections, including Lake Constance, Lake Geneva, Lake Lucerne and Lake Zurich. On Lake Constance, ferries run between Romanshorn and Friedrichshafen and between Rorschach and Lindau. On Lake Geneva, ferries connect Switzerland with France, for example between Lausanne and Évian or Montreux and Chillon.
Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland offers ferry connections between numerous cities and towns around the lake, including Lucerne, Weggis, Vitznau and Flüelen. On Lake Zurich, ferries run between Zurich and various lakeside towns such as Rapperswil, Thalwil and Horgen.
