From Stockholm's city center, it is less than a two-hour drive to the island of Finnhamn. Here you can find accommodation in a guesthouse, in a small cottage settlement or at the campsite. Between dense deciduous forests, wildly growing orchids and rocks covered with green vegetation, there are always smoothly polished bathing cliffs, secluded bays and sandy beaches. The beaches are what make Finnhamn a popular seaside resort. The surrounding islands in the northern archipelago off Stockholm can be explored by kayak and boat. Picnicking on a boardwalk is picture-perfect at Finnhamn.

North of the archipelago island Möja at the entrance to Husarö Bay lies Finnhamn as a group of islands. Finnhamn was once an important transhipment point for freight traffic in the archipelago. Thus the numerous ships from Finland gave the island its name.
Finnhamn is part of a group with the larger islands Stora Jolpan and Idholmen around the bay Landviken. There is a beautiful lookout tower on the island. Finnhamn's natural harbors include Paradisviken and Djupfladen, as well as the specially protected harbor Söderlångholm. In the vicinity of the harbors there are various shopping facilities, pubs and kiosks.
For Finnhamn is considered a social meeting place in the northern archipelago. Stockholmers and their guests like to meet here for various celebrations or simply to enjoy some quiet days, hiking, swimming or cycling.

The vegetation on Finnhamn and the neighboring archipelago is lush. In between are forests with many wild growing orchids, rock formations where mountain eagle owls can be observed and various sized stretches of beach.
Interesting:
The further east you go in the archipelago, and thus via Finland, the smaller and the more deserted the islands become. Finnhamn is a good starting point for such explorations to the east.
