The name of the westernmost island of the Azores means nothing other than flowers, and it is indeed primarily nature that attracts visitors here. Several hiking trails lead across the small island, for example along the impressive coast with its steep slopes and rough rocks. Or up to the plateau, where seven pretty lakes have formed in the craters of the volcanoes. What you should also see on Flores are the numerous waterfalls, the natural seawater pools in the main town of Santa Cruz and the village of Fajã Grande. The latter is the most westerly place in Europe and offers the last sunset of the continent every day.
