Göttingen
Travel Guide & Travel Information
The mixture of old half-timbered houses and modern architecture make Göttingen so attractive. The market square with the Gänseliesel fountain form the heart of the city. From the cafés you can enjoy the hustle and bustle and go on a shopping tour yourself. The pedestrian zone with its small stores starts directly at the market place. Throughout the city you will encounter colorful half-timbered houses, the ones in the Jüdenstraßen being especially beautifully decorated with carvings. In any case, you must pay a visit to the Jacobi Church. The foundation of the church was built in the 14th century, but the tower with the baroque dome was built in 1696.
