A very special highlight of Brussels sightseeing is of course the world famous Grand Place or in Dutch the "Grote Markt". A square that many people consider to be one of the most beautiful in the world. A judgement that one can only agree with, given the grandiose architecture of the buildings that surround the square picturesquely.
The Gothic town hall and the neo-Renaissance Maison du Roi opposite, as well as the numerous Baroque guild houses, together form an impressive backdrop that leads tourists to turn in circles around the square again and again to marvel at the beauty of the buildings one after the other. A visit is especially worthwhile during the Advent season, when there is not only a big Christmas tree in the middle of the plaza, but also the house fronts are lavishly illuminated. In addition, atmospheric music sounds at regular intervals, creating a fascinating atmosphere for visitors.
