Where to go first in Klosterneuburg?
Even from a great distance and also from the surrounding mountains, Klosterneuburg Abbey is easily recognizable. This is a place of faith more than 900 years old and repository of some interesting cultural treasures.
In the summer months, the monastery is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. In winter, opening hours are usually limited to weekends. Wine can be purchased from Monday to Saturday in the Vinothek, which is part of the monastery. Admission to Klosterneuburg Abbey costs 9 euros for adults. Guided tours of the monastery and wine cellar are available for a small additional charge of 2 euros.
Which museums are recommended?
The Stadtmuseum Klosterneuburg sees itself as a museum of generations. In addition to the permanent exhibition "Once upon a time...", which tells about the origins of the city, there are regularly different special exhibitions to see.
What is in the immediate vicinity?
Vienna is only a stone's throw away from Klosterneuburg. The closest point of contact for a subway station is in Heiligenstadt. From there, it is recommended to continue your journey by subway in Vienna.
On the outskirts of the city is the Happyland. This is a sports and leisure center with a total area of over 100,000 square meters. Among other things, there are numerous outdoor sports facilities for tennis, soccer and athletics, an adventure pool and a climbing hall.
Heurigen culture in Klosterneuburg
In the city there is a large selection of different Heurigen establishments, where the wine of the winegrowers can be tasted and a Heurigenjause can be taken for refreshment.
In contrast to the Heurigen pubs in Grinzing, which are mostly visited only by tourists, here in the town it is much more rustic and cozy.
Since Klosterneuburg is very easy to reach from Vienna by public transport such as the S-Bahn and bus, it is therefore recommended to visit one of these Heurigenlokale in Klosterneuburg.
