For many, Leipzig is considered the "new" Berlin: young, hip, alternative. At the same time, the city in the state of Saxony has a lot of history to offer: A beautiful historic city center with Old Town Hall built in Renaissance style, St. Thomas Church with the burial place of Johann Sebastian Bach and St. Nicholas Church as the meeting place of the Monday demonstrators who ensured the fall of the Wall in 1989. Leipzig is world famous for its book fair. However, literature fans also come to pay a visit to Auerbachs Keller. This is one of the city's oldest inns, immortalized by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in his work Faust, and where Martin Luther was also a guest.
