Many people know the relatively young city on the Rhine mainly as the site of the chemical industry. The "Bayer Cross" is a visible trademark of the company of the same name and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest illuminated sign. With its "BayKomm" center, the company has created an interface with society through interesting events and guided tours. The city's second landmark, the water tower, gives you an overview that is well worth seeing. But Leverkusen offers more than chemistry. One institution, for example, is the Wuppermündung ship's bridge, which is unique in Western Europe as a floating wooden bridge. Various parks and gardens offer plenty of space for recreation and long walks away from the industrial plants.
