The large district town of Markkleeberg is located south of Leipzig, on the banks of the Pleiße River. The founding of the city is recent history and took place in 1934 through the merger of Gautzsch and Oetzsch-Markkleeberg. The Markleeberg town hall moved into a converted former inn. Concerts are often held in the Linden Hall there. The Leipzig Symphony Orchestra is not an infrequent guest. Markkleeberg has several parks and gardens. The former agricultural exhibition of the GDR took place in the agra park. On the grounds you can visit the White House and the Spreewaldschänke. A few years ago, the German Photo Museum was opened in Markkleeberg. You can see more than 300 cameras there.
