Comic Museum

Belgium is called the country of "comics" with more than 700 comic authors. The Comic Museum has been around since 1989 and is located in an Art Nouveau building designed by the famous Belgian architect Victor Horta in 1906. It even has its own room dedicated to him.

Every year, more than 200,000 visitors are transported back to their childhood by famous Belgian comic characters such as the Smurfs, Lucky Luke or Tintin on 4,200 square meters. The visitor also learns how the "comic" came into being and which modes of expression, styles and formats there are.

A separate area is all about cartoons, and another shows original comic drawings with real animation designs.

A special highlight of the museum, especially for children, is the "Peyo Room." The little ones can play and romp around in the walk-in 3D Smurf village.

The museum also includes a library, an auditorium and a reading room with over 3,000 comics to browse through. Furthermore, special exhibitions are held regularly.
