Geological Museum

Meterorites, Minerals & Fossils
The Geological Museum (geologisk museum) in Copenhagen uses an extensive collection of rocks, minerals and meteorites to show how the earth and our solar system were formed. Numerous fossils are also on display, as well as the geological history of the origins of Denmark and Greenland.

Since 2004, the Geological Museum has been part of the newly formed State Natural History Museum of the University of Copenhagen, together with the Botanical Garden and the Zoological Museum.

One of the best meteorite collections in the world

The exhibits in the extensive collection come from all parts of the world and date back to the 17th century. For example, parts of the collection come from the Royal Chamber of Art or from Greenland expeditions of days gone by.

Especially famous is the meteorite collection, which is considered one of the best in the world. There is also a piece of the moon that Apollo 17 brought back to earth.
