Nobel Prize Museum

Museum around Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prizes
The Nobel Prize Museum (until 2019: Nobelmuseet) is located at Stortorget in the center of Gamla Stan, Stockholm's old town. In addition to the life of Nobel Prize founder Alfred Nobel (1833-1896), a wealth of information about the Nobel Prize is on display, as well as about the lives and works of numerous Nobel Prize winners from 1901 to the present day.

The Nobel Prize

Alfred Nobel was a Swedish chemist who achieved great wealth through the invention of dynamite. In his will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that persons who had distinguished themselves by special achievements in the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace should share annually in the proceeds of his fortune.
