The present museum is housed in the old infirmary and displays the eclectic collection gathered by nuns over the centuries. The oldest pieces date back to the 14th century.

Historical infirmary

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Potterie Hospital was first documented in the 13th century, when nuns cared for pilgrims, travelers and the sick here. Today, the historic infirmary and convent house numerous works of art, religious artifacts, and medical instruments from many centuries of care. The adjacent church with its Baroque interior is also worth a visit. On the altar is a 13th-century miracle statue, one of the oldest in Bruges. Many miracles are attributed to the white limestone statue of Our Lady of the Potteries in the Baroque church. These are detailed in stained glass windows, tapestries and a book of miracles.

Museum and church

Just north of the main tourist attraction is the Potterie Museum and Church, a monastery still in use. The museum displays some of the items that belonged to the monastery. There are some interesting objects on display, and only a few are exhibited in other museums, such as the travel desk from the time of Charles the V. The exhibition in the main room is particularly worth seeing. The other rooms are traditionally furnished with information panels. After visiting the museum, you can visit the church. It is a baroque style church, with stunning decorations, including the statue of the Madonna and Child, a venerable statue that supposedly made miracles happen. There is also a black Madonna and Child and several tapestries.

The museum was housed in a historic hospital complex dating from the 13th to 17th centuries with an adjacent church. The collection consists of numerous paintings and sculptures, as well as furniture from Gothic to Baroque. Also on display are an important silver treasure and Bruges tapestries. The adjacent church, one of the best-preserved Baroque-style church interiors in Bruges, also houses a wealth of art treasures. Noteworthy are the stained glass windows that tell the story of the church and the hospital.
