Stockholm City Museum

Stockholm city museum
The Stockholm City Museum (Stockholms stadsmuseum) shows exhibitions about the history of Stockholm from the year 1527 until today. After 4 years of extensive renovation, it was ceremoniously reopened on April 27, 2019.

The history of Stockholm since the Reformation

While the medieval history of Stockholm is shown in the Medeltidsmuseum, the Stockholm City Museum focuses on the period from 1527 to the present day. Founded in 1937, the museum opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1942.

The Stockholm City Museum is Sweden's largest municipal museum and has a unique collection of more than 300,000 objects, 25,000 works of art and 3.5 million photographs.
