Osnabrück

Osnabrück was once the city of wholesale trade and is still the economic center of the region today. Charlemagne was so enthusiastic about the city many centuries ago that he immediately founded a bishopric here. St. Mary's Church and Cathedral still form the cityscape and attract tourists from all over the world. You can feel the historical diversity of the region throughout the city and each of the old town houses tells you a story. The tourist highlight of any trip to Osnabrück is the castle, which was built by German and Italian master builders. The city is still surrounded in parts by the well-preserved city fortifications.
