The Arctic Ocean is the sea that lies in the Arctic. Largely covered by ice, the Arctic Ocean is also called the Northern Arctic Ocean, Arctic Sea or Arctic Ocean. With a depth of just under 1000 meters, it is the smallest ocean on the planet, which is why the Arctic Ocean is considered by some to be part of the Atlantic Ocean. The Arctic Ocean borders the continents of Europe, Asia and North America and has several connections to other oceans. These connectors are often used by marine animals and submarines, which have ocean currents and also freshwater rivers. However, some of these rivers are heavily polluted and endanger various life forms in the Arctic Ocean.
