Skyros impresses with its stony barrenness. What today is the charm of the island in the Aegean once referred to poverty. Pirates inhabited the island. Even the myth takes Skyros as a hiding place: Achilles is said to have lived here disguised as a girl with the daughters of Lycomedes until Odysseus discovered him. Through the picturesque alleys of the Chora you will reach the monastery of St. George and a castle. From here, the respective lords of the island scouted for pirates and attackers. Many small beaches invite you to swim and relax. The evening ends in one of the taverns, when you taste the famous lobster of Skyros.
