Stromboli has been a legend since the film by Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman. The island of fire was considered a natural lighthouse in ancient times. The volcano, which is still active today, was used by sailors for orientation. At night you can admire from the boat the eruptions followed by glowing lava on Sciara del Fuoco. There are also guided hikes up to Stromboli. Ficogrande, the island's black lava beach, is visually stunning but very rocky.
About 500 people live on the island. In the northeast you will find the small town of Stromboli and in the southwest the hard to reach Ginostra. In the main town of Stromboli you can visit the church Chiesa di San Vincenzo.
