The almost circular island of Thassos is just five kilometers off the northern Aegean coast. Here in the north the Aegean Sea is called "Thracian Sea". You are approximately in the middle between the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki and the Dardanelles entrance to the Sea of Marmara. Between Keramoti on the Greek mainland and the port Limenas Thasou in the north of the island there is still the very small uninhabited island Thasopoula. Thassos has picturesque beaches, many hiking trails and especially idyllic mountain villages to offer.
