One of the most impressive buildings in the city and a must-see on your Brussels sightseeing list is the Palace of Justice. It is located above the Marollen, a particularly old quarter of the city. The Palace of Justice was built in the second half of the 19th century and features an eclectic style. The area occupied by the building is even larger than the footprint of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome! The palace houses the Belgian Court of Cassation, which acts as the highest court in Belgium and is the final instance for judgments in civil or criminal cases.
