Ischia, with its size of 46 square kilometers, forms the largest island in terms of area in the southern Italian Gulf of Naples. The volcanic island is one of the most popular destinations in the region. Visitors can reach the island by ferry or catamaran from the port of Porta di Massa in Naples. The island has a lot to offer both scenically and culturally. Special attractions are the volcano Vesuvius and the excavation site of the city of Pompeii, which was destroyed by its eruption in 79 AD. Thanks to the warm climate, which even in the winter months is usually more than 10 degrees, Ischia has a lively cultivation of wine, fruit and vegetables.
