Patras

Patras is the third largest city in Greece and is located in the northwest of the Peloponnese peninsula on the Gulf of Patras. The city is an important transportation hub and port that connects Greece with Italy and the Ionian Sea. Among the most famous sights are the Roman Odeon, the impressive amphitheater from the 2nd century AD, the archaeological site of Patras and the castle of Patras, which offers a breathtaking view over the city and the sea. Another attraction is the Church of St. George, an impressive Byzantine building. Patras is also known for its carnival, one of the largest and most colorful festivals in the country, which attracts numerous visitors every year.
