Salamis - legendary, historical island in the Saronic Gulf, not far from Athens. The island takes its name from a nymph with whom Zeus fell in love. Great minds of antiquity like Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides tell about the battle of Salamis and the fight of the Greeks against the Persians. The battle has long since died down, but the ruins still tell of the past and the ancient tragedies are performed in the Euripides Theater on the hill Patris. When you are not relaxing on the numerous beaches between Peristeria and Vasilika, you can visit the Orthodox churches of Eandio, the stone lighthouse Akra Konchi or the cave of Euripides.
