So near and yet so far: Only about two hours away from the vibrant life of the Swedish capital Stockholm, visitors to Sandhamn on the island of Sandön can enjoy a true archipelago idyll at any time of year. Everyone who wants to experience the nature of the Stockholm archipelago with white beaches, pine forests and rugged cliffs on the one hand, and on the other hand does not want to miss out on good sports facilities, bathing and wellness fun as well as first-class restaurants and boutiques, will get their money's worth here.

Sandhamn is located far out to sea in the Stockholm archipelago. The archipelago can be reached by ship. But the ship connections are excellent and so especially in summer many families looking for recreation with their children, but also many young people enjoy the vacation in Sandhamn. The island is extremely popular with the international yachting community. Because Sandhamn is a renowned sailing center and thus the venue for numerous regattas.

Scattered over the rugged cliffs are many falun red summer cottages and colorful fishermen's cabins. The scent of wild rose hedges fills the air in summer. The bathing beaches are excellent, such as the white sandy beach of Trouville on the southern side of the island. This beach is less than a 20-minute walk from Sandhamn through blueberry fields and pine forests.

Spicy pine scents enrich the delightful, healthy sea air in winter, when peace has come to Sandön. A trip to the nearby small island of Grönskär with the old octagonal lighthouse called "Queen of the Baltic" is recommended.
